“While the end result is quite sophisticated, it’s important for organizations to remember that the compromise itself requires that malware be installed on the device. Many of the most sophisticated attacks require a more pedestrian starting point. The malware has to be installed on the device, and that’s usually done through an unpatched vulnerability, phishing attack or insecure configuration.
While defense is never perfect, doing the basics well can really help defend against sophisticated attackers.”
